Highly anticipated return of Hritik Roshan to the big screen with Fighter. Fighter is an Indian Action film directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Viacom 18 Studios and Marflix Pictures. The film is an exhilarating journey through the skies with major talents from the industry like Anil Kapoor, Akshay Oberoi and Deepika Padukone ­bringing their vast wealth of experience to the big screen.

Although the film had to suffer a setback from its earlier promised September 2022 release date due to the pandemic, the film is expected to hit the big screen on 25 January 2024 in theaters near you. A perfect blockbuster for the Republic Day weekend.

Fighter Filming

The complete filming of the movie is a fascinating storyline in itself. Here is everything public on the filming, divided in sequences.

First to third schedule of filming

Principal photography began in November 2022 in Assam. Cast members, including Roshan, Padukone, and Kapoor, immersed themselves in the Tezpur Air Force station in the first schedule of filming. The second schedule began by February 2023, now joined by Akshay Oberoi. Locations like Pehelgam and others served as backdrops for a song and a few meticulously choreographed action sequences under the watchful eye of Sunil Rodrigues.

The crew quickly relocated to the Dundigal Air Force Academy in Hyderabad to shoot for the third schedule which mainly focused on scenes with Roshan’s

character as an Air Force cadet in training at the academy. Quite an attempt to add authenticity and it also mended the way for real Air Force cadets to collaborate with

the cast to bring out an intense portrayal.

Fourth to final schedule of filming

Culminating from the conclusion of shoots from the third schedule, the fourth schedule was shot entirely in Mumbai. Scenes featuring Talat Aziz were predominant during this phase.

A recent post from social media platforms shows Anil Kapoor training behind the scenes to get back in shape for this character in the film. Quite an inspiration with plenty of commitment poured into each frame.

Most of the intense scenes featuring Hritik Roshan and Anil Kapoor were shot in late August, while September witnessed the choreography of a song featuring the entire cast

by the renowned duo Bosco–Caesar. From emotional scenes in Mysore Colony, Chembur, to intense moments in Chandivali,

the team meticulously crafted every frame with a limited number of extras, ensuring the film’s content remained a well-guarded secret until the very day of the launch.

Principal photography concluded by October, wrapping up 87 days of intense filming across the country.

Monumental feats from the cast

There are plenty of highlights across the filming with most of the cast focusing more on hands on experience with each scene.

Dedication in filmmaking

As per sources, one of the scenes from the climax of the film took nearly 120 hours of filming to complete. A bold underline on the crew’s dedication to production. Roshan even spent 12 days inside of a Sukhoi Su-30MKI to get a firsthand experience of the intensity of the film’s aerial sequences that was to come.

Expensive production

Yash Raj Studios spared no expense when it comes to extravagant sets. From deploying actual Air Force bases to classrooms and offices,

the production did really add to the authentic look of the film.

The build up after the announcement has been nothing short of gripping for the audience. Here is a quick timeline of every major milestone leading up to the final release in theatres.

Fighter teaser and trailer

The teaser for Fighter and Indian Police Force was dropped in December 2023 which created a buzz that got fuelled with the launch of the trailer in January 2024. The trailer launched with a promised release date of 25 January 2024, perfectly coinciding with the Republic Day weekend in India.

Expected sequels

While Fighter is expected to release during the Republic Day weekend, the makers have already hinted at what to expect after the credits roll. With plans to start a franchise during the initial scripting phase, the sequel is slated to go into production after Siddharth Anand wraps up with Tiger vs Pathaan. Something to look forward to in the upcoming years.

Fighter soundtrack

Bollywood loves its music and Fighter features some amazing soundtracks that are already released before the film’s release. The five song album by Vishal-Shekhar has brought out a complementing tone for the emotional depth of the film. Thrilling scores for the action-packed sequences are also crafted masterfully to lend in that

additional punch.Tracks like Sher Khul Gaye and Ishq Jaisa Kuch were launched for the audience in December 2023.

Heer Aasmani was released on 8 January 2023.

The entire tracklist does a great job of reflecting on the diverse range of moods and emotions showcased on the big screen which makes it an integral part
